Learning What I Need

I’m going to start this blog by saying, I’m exhausted and so this will be short.

When I say exhausted, I don’t mean like tired. I mean my limbs are beginning to feel like lead and I may fall out of my chair because my body can’t hold me up any longer. Its a frustrating feeling, but since I know its coming I can at least get this little post out.

Recently after being diagnosed with EDS and learning more about what’s going on with my body, I put together a little list of things I need which my Doctor has also weighed in on.

  1. Heating Pad-This makes my life better, when my joints are cold they tend to do weird things (they do strange things anyway but it gets worse when they are cold) also it helps with pain and when my muscles decide to seize up.
  2. Ankle and Knee Braces- Keeping my ankle in place allows me to walk around without worrying about falling over, or rolling it which can be excruciating! The knee brace does the same but for my knee. It also makes sure my knee doesn’t do this weird bendy thing which usually ends with me yelping from pain and going to the floor.
  3. Epsom salts-LIFESAVER! Epsom salts help with swelling in my joints and allows my body to get some magnesium since I chronically have issues with minerals and such.
  4. CBD Lotion-Yep, you read that right. It again helps with pain management.
  5. Water and water bottle-Becoming dehydrated not only leads to pain, it also starts a descent into slight madness as I begin to panic and feel hella woozy.
  6. Trace Minerals-I take these supplements because once again they help me stay afloat. They help with both my joint pain and muscle spasms.

This is my little list. It should be noted I’m not a Doctor and everyone’s journey is different, these are just a few things which I find helpful and allow me to keep going. I’d love to read your lists in the comments!
